July almost over... yea???

Hi All,

Well with all the Covid the main discussion seems to be public schooling. I bought a cute panel to make the girls masks but my DIL has decided to keep them home and do online learning... can't wait to see how that goes:) Cove starts the 18th and Killeen where they go it starts after Labor Day.
Cove has started UIL practices... yup football, volleyball, track, band. Killeen will not participate in those until after Labor Day. Crazy! Just VERY glad I am not a teacher or a parent that has to decide what to do...though I think I would opt for going to class. These kids have been segregated from other kids long enough! A lot of them need the social skills and won't be getting them at home! Ok off my platform:) LOL!

This was socialization week for me:) Monday and Wednesday I quilted. Tuesday was a couple of hours at a friends helping her navigate her long arm. Thursday was errands and then cards with friends. Friday was hand sewing day with the girls:)

I did not get a quilt done but did get one started and should finish it tomorrow:)
I have all the cat blocks made for the oldest Granddaughter quilt. Youngest has not been shipped yet.

We had rain yesterday due to Hannah. A good downpour:) Hoping we get another today!

What's on the frame....

Cat blocks:)

Mask panel:)

The 2 I made for myself.

Handsome has discovered we moved the hummingbird feeder in front of kitchen window. He is fascinated with the hummers:)

Have an awesome week!
I am home almost everyday so there will be lots of quilting:)

Cooler temps coming:)

Hi All,

So it got to 106 this week:( TOO hot for me!!! Of course the end of next week our high will be 88. Unheard of in July in Texas! Supposedly there is a cyclone in the Gulf and we get 1/2 in rain and cooler temps from that. I am good with that! Just hope there is no damage on the coast!

Wanted to tell you that son had to be tested and is negative:) His coworker and her son both have it:(

Quilting and sewing this week:) Also had our lunch bunch meet for dessert:) Always good to see these ladies!

We had some awesome news this week.... you knew we were to have a new grand baby in Jan or earlier and it is a BOY!!!! A first for us! He will be joining 2 sisters:) Everyone is SO happy!!!!
I already have a few projects in the works:) LOL! Along with quilts for the girls and travel pillows... should keep my weekends busy for awhile!

School starts here on Aug 18. Not sure when the girls go as they live in the next town over. I just ordered a panel from Fort Worth fabric studio to make a bunch of fun masks in case they need them.

I have the eldest girls cat quilt all cut out... 42 different cat fabrics... wasn't that hard for me as I think I have over 200 different cat fabrics... I have been collecting a few years:) LOL!

On to pictures:

Elaine fell and needed a baby quilt made for a great grand child. She gave me everything and I just put it all together. She figured since he was a July baby he needed a patriotic quilt.

And quilted it with stars and loops.

Sparkly backing fabric! I sewed the binding on but she is doing the hand sewing on it.

Shaleem made this wall hanging/table topper.

Freemotion quilted feathers and swirls and pebbles. There was also some ruler work:)

Love the backing fabric!

Another quilt by Shaleem. She has a bunch hanging in her closet that just need to be quilted so they can be finished:)

More curlz, swirls, and feathers:)

Love the Kaffe backing fabric!!!

My chemo top is finished. It is a free pattern from Jordan Fabrics called It's Hip to be Square. The fabric was donated by a client:) Just need to pu backing and it goes in the closet to be quilted.

Max says Hello:)
He is still in his kitten mode and is really a wild thing at times:)

Not home much next week but that's ok:) I need the break!
Hubby has been working ion my bedroom getting it ready to paint. There are only 2 rooms that have not been updated... his Earnhardt room and my bedroom. Don't think he is going to do anything to his room but I want to put my Pfeffernusse quilt on my bed and am waiting for the new paint:) Hopefully it will be done this week... to hot to be outside!

Have an awesome week and please wear your masks!

Hot!!!

Hi All,

The temp is 99 but feels like 104. Summer has arrived:(  So I water all the plants every morning now and be sure all the critters... birds, squirrels and stray cats... all have fresh water twice a day... it gets too hot during the day so give them cool water at night again. I think the possums and raccoons also pass through.

Got a massage on Thursday... man did I really need one! My body was really tight. Friday I had a few friends over and we went shopping and out to lunch. Then back to my house for some hand sewing and visiting:) Was SO nice!!!

I did get some quilting done;)

This is what was on the frame last week.

Got it finished this week.

It is Lori Holt's Vintage Christmas made by Jan:)

Lots of ruler and free motion quilting.

There was a puppy block but what no kitty???

Okay she did have a kitty on it:) LOL!

Lots of fun to quilt as each row was another adventure:)

Poinsettia backing fabric.

That was all I got finished but already have a crib size loaded for tomorrow then onward down the list:)
Not too much going on this week just lunch bunch and hopefully a haircut! Starting to look/feel like Cousin It again:)
Son has been exposed to Covid and will be tested tomorrow... praying he is negative as then he would of exposed the girls, wife and baby on the way:( Not been around us so we are still safe:)

Have an awesome week and stay cool!!!

We made it to July!

Hi All,

There were no gigantic chickens roaming the earth like they were predicting on FB so I think we might be ok:) Oh and the Sahara dust is gone so we can go back to walking in the mornings. It really messed with our allergies:(

Of course we are back on mandatory face masks and they urge us to stay home... like that will happen! I bet the numbers go up because of the 4th celebrations? We pretty much stayed home and grilled for the 2 of us:) I turned off the phone and stayed off FB and Instagram all day. Was really nice! May do it more often!

I finished the special order so I got to sew for me:) YEA!!! And I got the chemo top done also... am planning the next donation project to sew in between my Glitter blocks.

Ok so I know you want to see pictures:

Here is the memory quilt for Andrea made with her favorite shirts her mother wore.

The top knitted one was cut from a stocking:) The green was a favorite scarf.

She loved high heels and the Dallas Cowboys.

I think I got it:)

Then she wanted memory pillows made for her boys.

I did all the machine embroidery with Grandma's pet names for them.
I snuck one in for Andrea... she was always called Chicken by her Dad. I did his memory quilt a few years back with all the collared shirts.

My chemo top all done:) yea!!! I already have the backing fabric so will get in line for the next computer quilting time.

What's on the frame still for next week. Pattern is Vintage Christmas by Lori Holt.

Will be staying home most of the week and quilting. The temps are rising as Summer has arrived for sure now:( Means earlier walking for us as it's almost 80 when we wake up:( and way too hot to go in the evening plus you can be hauled away by the mosquitoes.. not big enough to take over the world but still lots of them! Will be until all the standing water dries up which should happen soon!

Stay cool, stay well, and stay safe!
And wear your mask when you go out!
