Happy October!!!!

Hard to believe the holiday season is swiftly approaching!!! At least we are having some cooler weather and even rain:) yea!

I had a customer ask me if I was getting burned out yet... I truthfully answered yes. It is like any thing that turns into a job instead of fun time all the time. The pressure to meet a quota to pay bills... esp the BCBS one:(  It seems that the insurance premium goes up every year and the quota goes up but the fun does not:( I know what you are all thinking... she is going to stop quilting for others soon... I plan to do this for as long as I am able to. I will stop when I don't feel like my quilting is good enough anymore.  Hopefully one day someone will find an insurance program or plan is more affordable. Mine is no longer available... I have had it for 6 years...so if I change withing BCBS I get a worse plan with higher deductible so I am in a catch 22 so to speak:(
I don't like Dr's as they always and I mean always find something wrong with me that essentially is just me. I am in tune to my body and pretty much know when I am overdoing or if something feels wrong. The only thing I really struggle with are allergies...  they are seasonal so no cure just making do. Yes I went to a Dr for them and no nothing they gave me helped... it is just a guessing game with them every season.
I am planning on taking an entire month off after the Christmas rush... no quilting even for me:) I think that might energize me:)
I do enjoy the quilting part of it all just not the business/quota part of it. So please keep sending those quilts... it just might take a bit longer but they will continue to be beautiful! I am not a machine but an artist:)

Ok enough of that! I always try to stay positive on here but I just wanted to put that out there so you know what I am struggling with right now..... Of course I could get into politics and the NFL but I think those subjects are pretty well covered with our lovely 24 hour news outlets! Oh and then there is family... yet another can of worms!!

Okay so I was home most of the week and did get some quilting done:) I have 18 on the list right now but I think I can get a few more squeezed in before Christmas esp ones that are just simple loops or meandering. I will also store your quilts for next year quilting:)

On with the fun:
First up is Dot's Friendship quilt. Her Friday group did exchange blocks with batik fabrics.

Had fun trying to quilt them all differently!

Her backing is an awesome use of leftovers!

This is also Dot's. It's a Christmas gift.

Just looped all over with a light grey thread.

She used Christmas fats all sewed together for the backing:)

Needed to get my 3 PL's quilted and out of here.

Pat picked out the backs... I quilted and trimmed... she will bind and get them to the kids:)

I just looped them all.

2 with pink and the last one with brown thread.

Like the backing on this one!

Might get to a boy?

Love this back also!

Elaine needed a baby quilt done rather quickly for a baby just born.

Just loops and hearts all over.

Sweet backing fabric.

My Millie only needs 2 more hexies and then I can start to sew the Rosette together and get started on number 2:)

I am still working on Sue Spargo birds... head aches have not helped with that at all:(
I am also working on a Bee embroidery quilt... have 2 blocks done.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Some followers have tried to leave a comment but it does not show up... I usually get an email if the comment is posted so I can keep or delete. If you do not see your comment please just email me at lecarter@hot.rr.comn or louster388@ yahoo.com
I So want to hear your thoughts! Wish I could figure out how to get that fixed! Thanks!

So much better this week!

Hi ya'll:)

As the title says I am feeling much better... only missed one day of quilting this week:) We are to get some rain later this week so hopefully the pollen count will drop way down!!! HOPE!!!

I did get a few quilts done this week:)

Tricia made this beautiful Blooms quilt. I have admired it in catalogs but couldn't commit to it... so glad I got to quilt one:)

All beautiful batiks!

With lots of color changes and custom quilting:)

Love the way it turned out!!!

All the quilting just makes the flowers pop right out!

Batik backing also:)

Gloria made this sweet blue and brown quilt. Do you believe those pinwheels?

She just wanted it looped all over and I had the perfect brown and blue variegated thread to go on it!

Sweet backing.

Another from Gloria... all flannel.

Nice and cuddly man's quilt.

Hounds tooth flannel for backing:)

My last wool BOM.
Of course I said I would not do another BOM but I am signed up for a Jen Kingwell one... Steampunk:)

These blocks are for Judy's grandson due in November... his name is Jackson.

I ordered a Lap App so it would help with my wool and hexies... of course it did not help keep Jax from my lap!!! Is there a cat app somewhere??? haha!!!

Hope everyone has a great week and get to those machines!!!!

Not a great week:(

The allergies won this week:( I spent more time drugged up, dizzy, and on the couch then anything:(
So a short post it will be.... No quilting done... did get one started but that was about it:(

This is my Millie so far. Have one more row to add all the way around for rosette #1. Then to hand sew them all together. I ordered the papers for the next 2 Rosettes. Using Kaffe and solids.

I went to Lunch Bunch and got to pick up my new signs from Shelley.
I designed them and she stained and painted them:)

She did an awesome job! The She Shed is a nickname from one of my customers:) Too funny!!!

Then it was all downhill for the rest of the week:( I am feeling better finally today! Hope it holds!

Have a great week and stay healthy!!!

Happy September:)

Hellllooooo Fall:)
Well at least for this week:) It has been a lovely cool 50's in the morning and only up to the 80's:) Of course by the end of the week we will be back up to the higher 90's.... but we are enjoying what we have!!!
The cold front also pushed away any chance of Irma or Katia coming to us:) Hooray!!!
I have been watching the weather channel... mostly muted cuz they talk WAY too much! But the devastation is real! Whole islands are flattened:( I always feel for the poor people that had no way to go anywhere!!! Hang in their Floridians!!!!
I did get some quilting done this week and also attended my Bee:) Yea!!! Love the camaraderie we have!!! They lift me up so much:)

So on with the pictures:)

Elaine made this ginormous... almost king size... Christmas quilt and wanted it Lou'd:)

Most squares dictated how they were to be quilted by their pattern:) So i wasn't too hard:)

Those poinsettias in the border were killer though... lots of them!!!!

Marylyn made this cute applique quilt.

She just wanted it looped all over but I just can't dot hat to applique:) So there are loops plus some outlining:)

She liked it and that was all that mattered:)

Pat made this as a gift from a  jelly roll.

I love this pattern because there really isn't too much t match!

Just looped it all over.

A Project Linus donation quilt.

See can't just go over appliques... is there a medical term for that???
Appliqueitis???

Turned out cute with lots of curls.

This is my first.... not my last... there are 29 more to go... Sue Spargo Birds in wool. Absolutely am loving the challenge of it! Am learning all new stitches.... drizzle, Picot, and Buillon on this one. All hand applique and embroidery:)

These are our BOM for the guild. I usually don't make any because I don't like the blocks:( But this one would make a great man's chemo quilt! Wish me luck in winning them... if not may have to make a quilt anyway:)

Since I was at Bee I got more work done on my FIL shirt quilt. There are 11 of 80 done. Sure looks awesome though:)

Hope you all have a great week and sew sew sew!!!!

Went from wet to cool and back to hot and humid:(

The weather has been very unusual for us! I think Harvey did help with that:( There are evacuees in our area and more to come:( SO many organizations have been wonderful! I am a big supporter of our HEB! They took their kitchens to affected areas and fed so many people! They are taking contributions at every check out and will pass it on to the Red Cross, Salvation Army and Cajun Navy:) Please give wherever you can!

My week was a little slow as the rain dried up the Ragweed decided to bloom:( UGH! That is one of my seasonal allergies so it hit me pretty hard this week:( Changed up my meds and am feeling better again:) I did lose 2 days though:(

Upon saying that there was some quilting that went on:) I am about halfway done with a big Christmas quilt so you should see it next time:) On with the show......

This is Marlene's Disney quilt.

Turned out So cute with the fun quilting:)

You can really see it on the backing:)

My Lucy Boston crosses top is all done:) YEA!!!!!

Here you can see the back... yes I EPP all those pieces and the red squares are 1 in... wow! It makes working on Milliforie.. I will call her Millie... so much easier! The blocks are all 6 in.
Should have the first 2 rounds ready to show you next week. I have been working on my Sue Spargo bird block.. learning new stitches! The Bullion knot, Drizzle Stitches, and now Picot. Fun and frustrating also!!! The You Tube videos so help! Esp if I am getting something wrong!!!  Always fun learning something new!!!

Hope you have a great week and try something new!!!
