It was a whirlwind kind of week:)

Hi all:)

My friend Rosemary and I left Monday morning at 10 am heading to Mineola for a class. We meandered our way along and stopped to eat and visit a few antique shops. Then we were in Mineola and stopped at Stitchin Heaven to get the info we needed for the next day. We did get a bit of stash enhancement done while there. When our teacher... Bonnie Hunter... came in:) YEA!!!! Then dinner and hotel check in. Tuesday class started at 9 and we were ready to get started!!! The class was Pfeffernusse. I had never been to a class by a famous teacher so was in awe at how organized it all was! Bonnie is a true quilters friend in the way she shares and teaches!!! We worked on strip piecing in the morning and then half square triangles in the afternoon and most of us left with 1 completed block:) The camaraderie was outstanding! We were sharing fabric, tools, stories and at the end of class hugs and emails:) Here is a link so you can see a video of all of us.. Rosemary was in the black gingham shirt and you can see part of me behind her and my block:)

Me and Rosemary:)

My stash enhancement:) The fabric in the back was on sale and will be the backing for the Pfeffernusse quilt:) Big dreams it will quickly be finished:)

My finished block.

My autographed block... will either put in quilt or on the back.

Bonnie and me:)

So more shopping after class and a great burger! Then back to hotel for the night.
Of course we were expecting rain on our way home but dang it was a lot of rain! We did stop at the Athens quilt shop Needle Niche:) Got there right when it opened:) Then headed on...rain, rain, and more rain:( Once we got Waco we stopped for lunch and of course PHD quilt shop:) You can never have enough fabric and we needed to stretch our legs:)

Then on to Temple where Rosemary lives. Unloaded her car and loaded mine. Then I waited about an hour and finally decided it was clear enough to drive home. Well it was good for a bit but then as I was leaving Belton I was driving 40 on the highway... couldn't see anything! SO glad everyone else was as slow as I was! Finally made it home and unloaded the car and plopped in the chair! The rain gauge said 4 inches... wow!

Thursday was catch up on everything and get groceries:)  And I got the quartz ordered for the island. They will be here on Tuesday to measure for the template. Electrician will be here the 13th and everything can be done before he does his work and hopefully it will be:) Friday was a headache rest day:)

Then yesterday we left at 10 and headed to San Antonio for Hayden's last dance competition. Stopped in Marble Falls at Inman BBQ for some turkey sausage and then back on the road. When we got to Freeman Coliseum we pulled out the sausage and some bread from the cooler and had lunch:)
Girls did great! 2 firsts and a first and third overall:) YEA!!!! That was the last competition. Just a recital to go in June.
Then we headed on home... stopped at Bluebonnet Cafe for dinner and took home 2 slices of pie:)

Waiting to perform... Hayden in on the right.

Paw Paw and Hayden afterwards.

Today we had that lovely chocolate meringue for breakfast and when the sugar kicked in we headed out to cut limbs. One in particular has been rubbing/banging against the edge of the roof of the studio and tearing up some of the shingles. It is now gone:) So while we were at it we trimmed them all:) Looks great now! Neither of us will prob be able to move tomorrow:) LOL!!!

What a mess!

Hubby on roof.

I love power tools:) LOL!!!

Esp the electric kind... I can never get them started with that darn pull cord!

So no quilting all week:( But there is next week:)

Hope everyone has a great week !!!

Happy Easter ya'll!

It was a busy week with just a bit of quilting getting done:)

I took a class through our Guild from Shannon Brinkley. She also spoke at our mtg Tuesday night. She teaches Scrappy Applique and has written a book with that name. Was a great class and had lots of fun!

My washer and dryer arrived safely and were installed on Monday:) They are SO quiet:) And of course had to learn how to use them:)

We had another storm come through Wednesday night and that gave us 1.25" of rain and lots of downed branches. That darn wind!

So we got the island all installed... attached to the floor today:) The electrician came by Wednesday and will email me an estimate for all the work we want him to do. He will have to go in the attic and under the house also:) We will have everything done except have the quartz on top before he gets to do his work:)

Won't be home much this coming week but will tell you all about it next post:)

On with some pictures:

Margaret always makes such beautiful hand embroidery quilt!

Had a lot of fun with feathers around the flowers.

Backing is also white so you can see the quilting:)

This is Bubba my fox I worked on at Shannon Brinkley's class. Of course I have all the sewing down still to do but he is a cutie!

Here is the island so far. The shelf that is sticking out will hold my Kitchen Aid mixer and will be lifted up and down on the shelf:)

Here it is all closed up. The counter top right now is sheet rock and wood scraps:) But it works! Don't want anybody falling inside the cabinets:) Next weekend or so we will be putting Bead board around 3 sides, then painting:)

Have been working hard on La Passion... only 51 more red flowers to make:) LOL!!!

Hope everyone has an awesome week!!!

Spring Storms have sprung up

As usual Texas gets a few storms that come through and tornadoes are created. Fortunately for us we only got 1/2" rain and 23 MPH winds yesterday.  And those winds stayed at that strength:( No letting up:( Picked up a bunch of branches this morning.

So last week for an $ week.... we pu the special order cabinet and the other cabinet for our island. And since our dryer took 4x to dry the laundry last weekend we also bought a new washer and dryer... they will be delivered Monday.

I also had Bee on Friday and got a few more trees made for my Jen Kingwell quilt.

Yesterday we pretty much vegged out... rain, cold and super windy. But we had concert tickets to see Josh Baldwin and For King and Country at the Bell County Expo...so we did go there but the wind was horrible!!!! The concert however was awesome!!!! Sadly the expo was only almost half full:( Guess they won't be coming back and performing here again:( They actually had curtains partitioning half of the area off.

I did get quilting done:

Sandy's Grandmother made this quilt and it was never quilted so she entrusted me with it:)

Just stippling, 8's, and some veins in the leaves.

She loved it and so do I:)

Cam made another sorority quilt but this time for herself!

Lots of empty space so added a large feather across the bottom of the monogram.

Turned out really nice!

Here is the latest update on my LaPassion quilt.

Closeup so you can see how little each hexie actually is.

And yes all hand done:)
The papers will stay in until it gets a bit bigger and then they will just pop out.

Another busy week coming up:)
Hope you all get some sewing done:)

Hello April:)

And the showers have arrived:) SO glad for that!!! The peonies and grass are thirsty! We have been lucky and didn't get the storms some others got yesterday. In fact were in Lockhart and it only really  rained 1 time but on the way back there was a lot of standing water. SO glad we didn't have to drive through too much bad stuff!!

Talking about Lockhart... found a sweet small quilt shop named Calico Crossing... the owner was SO sweet and we talked Texas traveling, collecting sewing machines and the best BBQ place in town... which is Chisholm Trail BBQ. She said it was where the locals ate and it was VERY good!!! And the price was less than we are normal paying:) Will definitely be going back if we are that way:) The other quilt shop Simple Sewing Solutions had 1000+ bolts:)

The main reason we were there was another dance competition:) Granddaughters group won a Platinum Award and a First Place Trophy:) There was improvement since the last competition:)
The neatest group was from Austin and the Pivot Studios. 2 of the gals were in wheelchairs... one because she had broken her foot. All were extremely exceptional in their dancing:) They were the Spotlight dancers:) They all got medals and a trophy:) Great group of gals!!! We ran into the owner of the studio when we were both getting BBQ. She said they come every year:) And all the gals are SO special:) They all  had some type of disability but dance helped them SO much:) They got a standing ovation every time they performed:)

Well last week was work and more work:) LOL!!!! I finished the quilt that was loaded and a baby quilt. Also got 2 rows done on the next one:) Should finish it tomorrow:)

Okay enough gabbing... on with the show:
This is Martha's Star quilt.

Loved looking at all the different fabrics in the squares. Ruler and freehand quilting:)

Perfect backing... she is thinking of putting it in our Show in July.

Dot made this sweet baby boy quilt from scraps:)

Love all the blues and of course the border!

Just looped all over.

My treasures from Calico crossing. She gave me the nippers and little bag for free:) The blue sky fabric I bought at Simple Sewing Solutions.

Here is the stage from this competition.
There was only 1 repeat studio from the last competition. Love seeing what they all come up with:)

Hubby and Granddaughter from the last competition.

Here they are all waiting for the Award ceremony.

Me and Granddaughter:)

We don't have another competition till the end of the month:)

Hubby went and got all the lawyer paperwork signed for the probate. Won't hear anything for at least 2 weeks. Hopefully we get a quick court date and then we can move on!!

Have lunch bunch this week and Bee at the end of the week but there will be quilting done in between:) YEA!!!

Hope everybody gets their UFO's finished:) LOL!!!!
