Almost September:) Finally!

 Hi All,

Here's hoping September is a better month for us all!

Was a quick and busy week:) Got a few things done and have a large quilt still on frame but should finish it next week so you an see it. LOVE it!!

We got back up in the 100's with the feels like hitting 112:( I m SO ready for some cooler weather!

Grand daughters go to real school starting tomorrow. My son said it felt like he hit the lottery:)

On with the pics:

Here are Mary's pillow shams all done:) She is gong to send me a picture when it is all finished and on her bed.

We quilted a PL to do a practice run on a new design:)

Turned out so sweet!

Here is the actual quilt we used it on. It is called Flower Child and I think we will be using it a lot!

Close up of Barbie.... oops looks like her nose belongs on a pig:)
LOL!!!! The loop hit it just right:)

The backing is from QIY and the binding came with the kit:) They still have some at FT Worth Studios online. The youngest granddaughter will be getting this for Christmas:)

This a new breed of hummingbird I saw this morning??? Nope honey bees and 1 wasp. What to do? Google says to take down after dark and not replace for 4 days. That will make them find a different path and the hummingbirds will complain but still keep coming back. 2 of the hummers have been drinking until the bees start to bother them to much. Guess they know how to coexist pretty well.

And now a picture of one of my design walls... there are 3 things going on. Why not right? The shirts on left are one memory quilt, the shirts and 9 patches hanging are another and the clear poster boards are the quilting designs for what I am working on right now. No wonder I have trouble sleeping:)

And lastly my LaPassion progress. I have finished the 6 diamonds that will be in between 6 hexagons.
There are 1026 pieces in those 6 making the total pieces so far 3118. You can only see 1/2 of the center medallion. Taking a break from it for a bit and then back at it! I will finish it one day:)

Hope everyone has a great week!
Stay cool and pray for rain!!!

Hello:)

 Hi All,

Has been an eventful week... got a king size quilt quilted E2E.. will never do that again! It took forever!!!!! 3 days in fact! And of course the quilter would get hiccups with this one:( UGH!!! I actually went online and started shopping for a new machine and computer setup. Got it narrowed down to 2:) LOL! I think I scared Dazi because she was better after that:)

We lost a VERY dear friend this week:( She was 94 and had a wonderful life! Her children and my Hubby were with her when she went over the bridge. She was like a second mom to Hubby and a dear friend to me! We had a storm come through that night and I thought of it as heaven throwing her a party!!

They want memory quilts so need to get prepared to start those in the next few months. I still have the other order to get done. Might start this week... the bad part is some of the fabrics I need won't be back in stock until end of Oct or after:(

I also came to a decision as I relaxed and did no sewing or quilting all weekend... ok some hand sewing....

I am no longer taking in quilts or putting anyone on a list. Whoever is on the list now will get theirs done for sure this year! No list for next year because I don't know if I want to continue quilting for the public next year. My body is finally starting to feel better and there is hardly any pain but I know it will come back when I start custom quilting again:( I have already stopping taking on new clients and have been referring them to a gal in Kempner. If you want more info drop me an email or text me:) She is great!

We want to travel more!!! Hubby's aunt in NC has been in the hospital and then nursing home these past 2 months but is finally back home and we really need to see her! I want to see my BFF in TN and of course my daughter in OH. That was the planned trip before Covid:(

The blog will also be suspended whenever I close down:( I hear lots of compliments and remarks form readers when I see them:) I know you will miss it but it is getting to be more work then enjoyment now.

Okay on to good stuff:)

Got together with friends on Friday for hand sewing, eating, and talking. Yes there was also hugging!

Now pictures:

First up are Sprinkler Covers for a friend's first grandson and a set for mine:)

Too cute!!! The design is from Embroidery Garden and done mostly on the embroidery machine.

3 Christmas gifts finished:) The girls and their new brother will get new stuffed animals made by Nana! They are designs from JuJu Designs. Mostly done on embroidery machine.

What $200 worth of quilting thread looks like. And that is wholesale priced.

Mary G's Christmas quilt. The KING sized one.

Done E2E with gold King Tut thread and the Merriment design.

Looks great on the plain backing fabric! Still have her 2 shams to get quilted.

Granddaughter quilt all done!

Love love the binding! It is digitally printed and I bought it at JoAnn's.

The backing that is wild and crazy was purchased at QIY. And it all goes together!

There will be a bit of computer quilting done this week.
Hope everyone has an awesome week!!!

t Hot Hot!!!

 Hi All,

That pretty much sums up our weather this week! 107 as the high with heat indexes over 110. Summer is here but not for long:) Thank Goodness! 90 is forecast for tomorrow... have no idea why but will gladly take it!!

I wanted to post my little garden pictures but the internet is sssooo slow I can't get them downloaded onto the PC:( UGH!

So I will show you what I got done this week....

Gloria made his sweet Sampler quilt.

It is all custom with ruler work and freehand quilting all over.

There are no 2 blocks exactly the same... and yes I was running out of ideas:) LOL!

Remember you can click on picture for a larger view.

It turned out really great!

And it could be reversible:)

My body is not really happy so will have hubby do a few digital quilts this week so it can rest.
This is a PL panel.

Love this design but had a hard time with the fish fins... wanted to skip:(

So instead of that design we went with kitty paws on eldest granddaughter's quilt. Wait till you see the binding and backing fabric. Crazy! May have to sit for a bit until Bianca is back to sewing mode as she is still doing embroidery . In fact she is stitching right now:)

I kept feeling like someone was watching me:) LOL!
I got the Barbie kit in for youngest granddaughter and all the borders are cut... yup waiting for Bianca. And yes I could setup another Bernina but really don't want to:)

Eldest's kitty cat. Still have to finish the bandanna. So after this project is finished on Bianca I just have a puppy to make for grandson and then back to sewing.

So I hope everyone has a cooler week and
 remember to stay safe!!!!

Still August~

 Hi All,

Hope everyone had a great week!

I met up with quilty friends on Friday and did handwork and that was the best day! Well today will be after we visit the girls:)

Got 2 quilts done and that was about it. I think I overdid it and felt it Wed so did nothing and then had errands and massage on Thursday. Still wore out but body is feeling better! Need to remember to go slower and stop pushing myself! But I get caught up and then there is only 1 more row ... I can do that. Nope! Think again Lou! Be the tortoise not the hare!

On with a few pictures:

Mary made this quilt for her son in law who was in Airborne. It is for their son:)
I first thought an allover except for the patch area but those stars needed to pop!
Backing fabric is perfect!

WHOOOO! August is here!

Hi All,

August has finally arrived. Hoping there is nothing catastrophic this month! We have even had rain this past week. Think it came from Hurricane down by the coast but we are thankful for every drop! Maybe a 1/2 in total.

Had the quilting computer humming most of the week:) So lots to show:) We also ran away to Waco and shopped a bit at Joann's... they had 1/2 of what I was looking for, Cabella's... Hubby has a GC to spend but they didn't have anything he wanted, and World Market... lots of empty shelves:( It was a nice drive and change of scenery! We are hoping to go South in a few weeks to ... yup Cabellea's in Buda:) LOL!

Ok so on with the many pictures:

Shaleem's last custom quilt.

Lots of fun... ruler work and free motion.

Beautiful backing!

The last quilt from Shaleem. I named it Blue Roses. We did E2E roses with blue thread.

Design is called Maggie's Roses.

You can really see them on the backing fabric!

A Burnet box Project Linus quilt.

Maggie's Roses again as the E2E design.

We used a purple thread and it turned out SO sweet!

Chemo quilt I made from a jelly roll from a client... along with the border fabric.

More Maggie's Roses with a dark purple thread.

You can really see them on the back!

Margaret made this kinda wild quilt:)

Love the paisley fabric!

Used Chestnut Swirls as the design with bright yellow thread. Love the way it turned out!!!

Another chemo made by me:) This one used Civil War reproduction fabrics and muslin scraps.

Used the Chestnut Swirls design with a light tan thread.

Love the paisley backing I found!

Started on Christmas for the girls:)
These are travel pillows and the paper pieced kitties are pockets:) Then I machine embroidered their names on it. Yes they are going opposite ways.... have to make the the same but different:) LOL!!!

Now I am in the cat making business:) This one is Marie's the youngest. I need to buy more Cluster Stuff stuffing so I can finish her. Then I need to make Hayden's.... didn't have anything in the stash so will need to go shop:) I have enough blue minkee for a boy puppy for the new grandson coming:)

So this is how my studio looked at the end of the day yesterday:0 Pretty darn messy... but do not worry it is all clean today:) Hubby vacuumed everything up and I put everything away again:) You can see Bob inspecting the floor:) LOL! "Mom what is all this stuff?????"
No more embroidery till the weekend.

Hope everyone has an awesome week!
