Last week of Oct:)

Hi All,

So this week was a bit off...Hubby was on vacation and I cooked and took food out to my parents house Monday-Thursday night.

My Dad is doing very well:) He was well enough to drive by Friday so they went back to their routine and us to ours:)

Monday I quilted and Hubby went to storage places...he is looking for a place to store his 56 Chevy after all the repairs are made...hopefully by Dec:) Of course everything is full but he is on call list for the 2 he likes...hope he gets one by then!

Tuesday more quilting and he went to visit his car:) She is in Temple.

Wednesday more quilting but the computer is not doing what it is suppose to:( UGH! Wrote an email to Missy and all the QM people are in Houston for Market so she will talk to them when she goes down...at least I have a few custom I can work on while I wait. The design is crossing itself and is getting smaller and more jumbled as it goes down the quilt. Figured I pushed a wrong button? Will see....

Thursday Hubby was recovering form a stomach virus...he was up almost all night so I didn't get any sleep either. We both vegged in front of TV:) Storm came in that evening and temps dropped from almost 80 to 40's. The wind chill on Friday morning was 31....BBBBBRRRRRR!!!

Friday we ran errands and then stayed warm in front of TV!

Yesterday we watched football:( Longhorns were disappointing! Too cold still outside...the wind was something!

Today we ran to Lowe's to get a storage tub and foam insulation. We built a Feral Cat habitat last year and 2 were taking turns using it so we decided to make another this year...well with 2 more hanging around we made 2 more instead! I still need to get more straw to finish them off but they can use them when the next cold front comes in this week...suppose to be colder:( Make up your mind Mother Nature!

So here are the donation quilts I got done...not happy with the quilting but it is what it is:(

Panel quilt for Project Linus.

Too sweet!

And matching backing fabric:)

Another Project Linus Panel.

Sweet!

Plain backing.

BOM I made from a kit I didn't like anymore.

Chemo donation.

Plain muslin backing.
I could point out all the problems but I will spare you:) LOL!

My view from the studio window.
There are 2 homes behind the grill:) At least I can keep an eye on them:)

Hubby back to work tomorrow. He only has 3 more weeks till he retires:) Then the real fun begins!
Have a great week and Sew more!!!

Weird week!

Hi All,

The week started out really good...quilting and nice weather:) Then Bam! My mom that I haven't spoken to in over 7 years.. calls??? Surprise!! Well my dad was in the hospital and she didn't know what to do...seems she has some dementia. So I picked her up and to the hospital we go. He had inflammation around his heart and bronchitis. She called on Wed and he was admitted on Mon. So everyday I would pick her up and take her for the afternoon, then made sure she ate.  Hubby came when he could get away from work. He was finally released yesterday and it was late when we got home. Will be cooking and checking in often. SO glad God gave me a few weeks of normal life before this hit!!! Knew I would get a call one day that they either needed help or passed away. Kinda glad they are still here. It is pretty surreal though!

So I did get 2 quilts done...since I didn't go till after lunch I had the morning to get somethings done:) More for my sanity:)

Ruth Ellen worked hard on this masterpiece!!!

The variety of items is amazing!

Not sure where she got everything..garage sales, friends, her own items.

Yes it was heavy:)

Remember you can click on picture to make it bigger.

I did a lot of freehand outline quilting. There were SO many different items to stitch around:)

I did not get the chance to get bored:) LOL!!!

I donated the fan in this corner:)

All the doilies and lace in sashings are hand stitched down.

Here is the back...you can really see all the quilting:)

Kathy J made this blue and white BOM.

She just wanted loops all over.

Such a pretty quilt!

Well Hubby is off all week...had to take vacation days or lose them. When he goes back next week he will only have 2 weeks until he retires:) His last day is Nov 15.
I think we are both ready:)
I am thankful he will be able to help with y parents!
Not sure how this week will go....

It Happened!!!

The cold front actually showed up:) YEA!!! Of course it was lovely at first and then I was cold:) Actually had to wear a jacket on Friday as the temp kept dropping:( At least the AC and fans are getting much needed break! Will warm up a bit and then another front is coming...it is the yoyo part of our year...wait that is almost all year except summer:)

So got some quilting done, had lunch bunch, errands, and on Friday hubby had to go to Georgetown for another dermatology surgery, hopefully last big one...we were still there for 3 1/2 hours:( Then to Catfish Parlour for lunch and Poppy's for a look around:)

Last night we went to Goldthwaite to my Cousin's annual Halloween party:) We haven't been able to go the last few years because something was always already planned:( Had a great time and saw a lot of family I haven't seen in many years.
Here we are all dressed up:
Yes I made the Cousin It costume and Hubby is Woody:) Already planning for next year:)

So here are more pictures:
Margaret made this quick quilt.

love the fabric!

Just red loops all over:)

My LaPassion is coming along:) Just 2 more rounds and I will stop for the year and then hopefully finish next year:)

Here are all my fabrics we dyed in class last weekend, They have been rinsed, dried, washed with Retayne, and then dried in dryer. Think I will have to do this again:)

This is what will be loaded today to start tomorrow:)

Have an awesome week!!!!

Patiently waiting...

Okay maybe not! There is suppose to be a cool front coming in tonight:) I am SO SO SO hoping it does!!! I am ready for cooler activities and cooking!
I was home almost 3 full days and got a few things finished:)

This is Linda's first large quilt.
I quilted it and did the binding:0 for her birthday gift:)

I used a computerized feather design.

It really turned out lovely!

She showed it off at her Birthday party yesterday in Giddings.

Mary's MIL made these and her SIL  found them and they finished putting it all together.

The background fabric is really rough and I am pretty sure it and the baskets are original 30's era fabrics:) The sashings and backing are reproduction fabrics but look great with the old!

Lots of cross hatching behind the baskets.

Shannon made this quilt and just wanted it stippled all over.

Love the color combination!

And that pretty backing fabric!

Also had Bee this week and am still working on my Bonnie Hunter Emerald City quilt.
Still have lots of string piecing to do.

This is where I was today...The Sewing Basket in Salado attending a dyeing class. We had a lot of fun and made some messes:) LOL!!! I will take each out in the next day or 2 and rinse, dry and set the dyes. You will see them next post!

Seems as if I was on the go a lot!!! Well next week more go is in store for me:) LOL!!!
Have a great week and hopefully cool!!!
