After Thanksgiving

Hi All,

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Hubby and I worked all day! We did get a bunch accomplished so we are VERY happy!!!

These are the before and after pictures of the kitchen. The countertop guy comes Tuesday so hopefully the kitchen/dining room will be all finished before my daughter arrives on the 15th:)

Kitchen before..... everything has been painted except the bottom cabinets.
We installed the enclosed area above the top cabinets.

Dining room before.....

The Jelly Roll rug I made for the entryway but then moved into the kitchen:)
I will need to make another and a smaller one for the cat feeding station.

Our biggest helper KoKo:)

We ripped up 5... yes 5... layers of flooring on Thanksgiving Day.  We actually found the original flooring that had to be some sort of ceramic or clay or else it was SO old it turned to that? The day before we had finished painting.

Here is dining room with out the flooring:) The black is a water resistant thing they had put down when the house was built in 1961. The edges all along the wall and some of the seams were very sticky from the original glue. Such good work was done then!

Dining room with new flooring:) YEA!!! I have new metal chairs on their way:)

Kitchen with new flooring and 2 tone cabinets. The floor really made the lower cabinets look SO good! Where the little white cabinet is is where the island will be next year with a dishwasher:)

More of kitchen with new fridge.Today we are cutting, painting and installing the baseboard trim. I am pretty darn good at cutting miters now! The butcher block countertop and backsplash will be gone soon hopefully!!!

I bought this Paper White as an impulse buy at Aldi's.

She is getting taller and has 1 bloom that is getting ready to start blooming soon:)

This is... hey who's head is that???? Bob:) Guess he wanted to be done in 5D diamond painting also:)

Here is the last of my cat pictures...now to find frames:)
I also finished up my redwork nativity. Too cute!!!

There was NO quilting done all week and I do not feel guilty at all:) I am ready to get back at it tomorrow!!!

Hope everyone has a great week!!!

Almost Thanksgiving!

Hi All:)

We have been working hard in the kitchen today so am a little late is posting today. We have the walls all painted in kitchen and dining room and 1 section of cabinets about finished. We are taking the doors off and painting them and then rehanging...fun:)

Hubby has taken Wed and Fri off this week and the major work will be done then:) YEA!!!

I have an appt on the 27th for the countertop guy to come by:) We have decided on quartz and there is a new design we love!!!! Hope it's affordable!

Now we are also thinking an island with a dishwasher... but prob not till next year:)

Not too much quilting done as we had lunch bunch and errand day this week....

Last of gdaughter #2's Christmas gift all done:)

Our Guild held their challenge this past week... it was to draw a color and then only use it... the fat qtr... and black and white fabrics. This is what I came up with:)

Then the guild members vote.

I won the yellow category... the top vote getter then won the Best of Show.

Sad that there were only 11 finished quilts turned in... I think there were a little over 20 that bought the fat qtr. And there are close to or over 100 in the guild:(

Roseanne made this sweet quilt.

Beadboard ruler work and free hand designs:)

Love the way it turned out!!!

No quilting next week:) I might get to some donation quilts.
Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Winter is trying to sneak in:(

Has been a bit cooler the last few days... in fact in might freeze tonight:( It is sprinkling right now so hopefully all will be ok in the morning!

Busy week quilting, getting my Operation Christmas Child boxes finished up and went to Bee:)
My daughter also let us know she will be here next month before Christmas:) YEA!!!

So we worked on the kitchen some more this weekend... yesterday we bought everything we needed and today the space above the cabinets is all filled in. I once again have discovered I HATE doing mitered corners with trim! Looks good and we need more trim to finish up:) Different then what we had purchased... it is a deep black hole for sure!!!

MIL is doing much better... she was released Wed and is getting Hospice care now so that is a good thing!

Ok enough blabbing:) Here are the pictures:

Linda bought this at an estate sale in Dallas area for $5. Then I prettied it up for her:)

Lots of custom quilting:)

The back looks good to:)

Margaret made this sweet hand embroidered DOW gals:)

Ruler work and curlz:)

Love the gingham fabric!

Elaine's granddaughter made this quilt and shipped it to her from Utah I think so I can quilt it and she can pu at Christmas when she visits:)

She said to use only white thread:) I couldn't just meander all over so I custom quilted it only with white thread:)

I really like the way it turned out and hope she does too!!

I pu this kit at either the Dallas or Plano show this year and found it when I was cleaning out a cabinet so quickly made it:) I used wool scraps and the buttons came with it.

I also found this almost finished snowflake ornament so finished it also:)

Another busy week is coming! Quilting, lunch bunch and a dental cleaning so far for this week:)

Hope everyone stays warm and gets a lot done this week!!!

Feels more like Fall today... but wait:)

Hi All,

When I did laundry today I had shorts and sweats in the pile... yup TX weather for sure! It was in the 70's the past few days and then last night a front came through and brought high winds and 1/4 in rain and lower temps:) yea!!! Only in the 60's today... forecast has upper 30's as evening temps at the end of the week:)

We have been working in the kitchen... the new oven and stove top arrived. The stove top will stay in box until the new counter tops are put in... it was on a great sale:) The oven is in but of course the connection thingie isn't right so have to find the right one. The walls and cabinets are about ready to be painted but we still have to do the built in above the cabinets... have not had time to get supplies... the oven arrived at 8:45 yesterday morning:)

Hubby went to pu his mom for bingo and she was slumped in her chair. They took her to hospital by ambulance and then to Scott and White in Temple by Helicopter. They thought she had a stroke but her brain tumor had gotten a bit larger, her bp had been up and the blood thinner all made the tumor bleed. She is to speak with the neurologist tomorrow. with her age there will be no surgery so most likely more pills.

I did get some quilting done this week and have a big one still on the frame I hope to finish tomorrow:)

Here is the show:)

Cam made this sweet baby quilt for a fellow sorority sister:)

Love the color palette.

Just looped all over as she needed it fast:)

Brenda made this yummy gingerbread quilt:)

Had fun looking at all of the different gingers.

Ruler, curlz and outlining on each block.

Fran made this lovely braid quilt.

Used a ruler in the white sashing and then matching thread feathers in all the braid parts.

The backing is the softest fabric ever! A nice organic yellow.

Another 5D diamond picture is done:)

Finished the male flannel chemo quilt.

Was nice sewing the binding on when it was cold:)

This is the center of the La Passion quilt:)

Hope ya'll have a great week!!!
I will be quilting:)
