Nov 23, 2014

Hello everyone!

I am writing with a heavy heart as my FIL passed away on Friday the 21st from heart failure. He will be missed by all! MIL is doing much better then we thought but has her times:( The visitation for family is Tues evening, public visitation Wed 10-12 and then graveside funeral at 1 at the Veteran's Cemetery in Killeen Tx.

After that we have Thanksgiving and then she will go with my SIL to her home for a week or more. We can't do anything without the death certificate so that will prob be in 2-3 weeks and with the holidays more like 3. Then the real fun begins:( SO did not know about all the stuff you have to do... wish it was like the frontier days where you just buried them and then went on:) But then I guess that wouldn't be progress???

I did get some quilting done this week:)
First up is Gayle's wallhanging... remember I told you there were more:)

Love the borders!

Here's all the hard work:)

I finally finished this needle holder and gave it to Karen for her Bday... which was today:)

The inside...

When closed it it half a butterfly:)

The last of Gayle's panels.

Love the corner dot to dot quilting!

All my work:)

This is Erlene's Snail trail. She just wanted swirls so I used my swirls board:)

Turned out really neat!

The back...

This was before the great rain so there are sun places.... we did however get nearly 3 in of rain in a day and a half... so glad it wasn't cold enough for snow!!!!

The sunflower is growing:)

Another wool project from Houston finished:) I am really liking wool applique!!!! No worries about raveling!

Oh and here is the boss making sure I stay on task!!!! Must be really hard work cuz it looks like he is SO tired he can't hold his head up:) haha!!!!

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and remember to just graze all day so you don't get that full feeling;)

Nov 15, 2014

What an artic blast that came through this week!!!! I didn't leave the house for 5 days:) haha!!! Had to quilt anyway:) We had 20's at night with wind chills in the teens and highs up in the 30's and now 40's. Another front coming through tomorrow:( We never have winter this early in the year!!!!
Fun to see how everyone dresses:) You have the shorts and flip flop people with coats and then the ones that look like they should be in Alaska:) Too funny!!!! Almost better than those Walmart people emails you get:) haha!!!

The closet is getting easier to get into finally:) But of course I still have quite a few to quilt:) Great job security! LOL!!!!

Ok on with the show:

Carolla's BOM is just stunning!!!! For being a newer quilter she is doing such an awesome job!!!

She lets me play:)

Did ruler work and free motion:)

The back shows some of my playground.

Couldn't take any pics outside:( It is draped across the frame in this one.

A nice close up:)

Gayle gave me this panel to quilt. Love the borders!

More ruler and free motion work:)

Back... lots of stitches:)

Another panel.... another great border treatment!

Used some Dot to Dot quilting.

More ruler and free motion.

Here's the back:)

She called this one Rainbow Chains. Had to hang over frame yet again:(

Quilted in all areas except the colored squares... made them pop right out!
Yes more Dot to Dot, ruler and free motion.

Love the backing fabric!!!! There is just something about B&W quilts with that punch of color that is just beautiful!!!

I have 2 more panels to finish for Gayle:)

The inlaws are doing well. SIL went home to care for her significant other and they have been doing it pretty much on their own. Hubby will pu food on the way home from work if FIL calls and help if they need it. I bet they are happy to be by themselves for a few days:)

Bob loves coming in at night and staying nice and warm! Hope all the animals that graze at our house have a warm place to stay!!!

Have a sewtastic week!!!! Till next time!

Nov 9, 2014

Fall has arrived again:) ha ha!!! We had almost 3 inches of rain at the beginning of the week and then a wonderful cool front has arrived! Lows in the upper 40's and highs in the upper 60's. Perfect weather!!!

I don't know if it's the time change, trip hangover or allergies but I have been slow moving this week:( I did get things done but I really had to push myself.... I think that since I still feel the same way it has to be allergies
:( UGH!!!!

Went to Buda with some friends to their quilt show and bazaar. Stopped in Georgetown to have breakfast at the Monument... no male waiters???? Last time we went we had so much fun flirting with the cutest waiter... that was disappointing for sure! The show had a few pretty quilts, a few vendors... no did SO not need anything... and lots of handmade items for sale. Then we visted the local quilt shop and I did find a few pieces I had to have:) Then to Kyle for pie:) It was a lovely drive!

Okay on to pictures:
This is Marylyn's jelly roll race quilt.

Just loops in a variegated thread:)

She is giving it as a gift:)

Also Marylyn's.

Love the redwork!!! I got to play:)

Wonder which block is my favorite????

Sweet quilt!

My first Houston project done:)

I am liking wool! And it didn't make me itch or anything:)

This is Nancy's jelly roll race all done in batiks.

The theme was turtles so I quilted around all the baby turtles in the border and water ripples in the middle

Beautiful backing!!!

I did add more quilting around the turtle couple as they were swimming and there was movement in the water and a few bubbles:)

That's all for this week:)
I am home most of the week this week so am planning on getting my list down a few more:) Christmas is fast approaching!

Have a sewtastic week!!!

November 2, 2014

I survived The International Quilt Show in Houston!!!!! Yea!!!!

Yes I spent too much $, ate too much, ummm drank too much, and had way too much fun. I think that would qualify as a successful trip:) It was only a 3 1/2 hour drive there but almost 5 on the way back... gotta love construction... NOT!

There were some spectacular quilts there!!!! Of course my favorite was from Kathi Dossman from our Bee and guild:

Great Job!!!!!

Here it is hanging:)

I did try to see every quilt but think my eyes gave up with 1 row left.... I did however see every vendor:) Some even twice... I do have my priorities!!!

I am not going to post the hundred's of pictures I took. Most you can see online:)

I did take pictures of my purchases:) Only bought 3 yds of fabric. Oh and yes I have an Oliso iron heading my way:)

Yes more goodies:)

Last of them!!! I only had 2 extra bags to bring home.
Lots of wool projects... funny I am allergic to wool.... need to see what I can do to not itch when I work on them:) haha!!!

Added more to the sunflower before I left.... it's coming along nicely!

Saw this on a blog and had to make one!  It is a kit from Stitch Supply Co.

I added more white so I could get two made. Also needed binding fabric.
So bought it when I ordered yet another kit but a lap size. Hubby kept saying that would be really neat in a bigger size:)

All pieced by hand and quilted by hand:)
Love it!!!

Here is the back.... sweet!!!!

Well back to quilting tomorrow!!!!
Oh there is a show in Buda Friday so we are planning on going... yes more quilts!!!! You would think with the 1600 plus quilts I would be burned out... not!!!

Have a sewtastic week!!!!
