March 15, 2015

Half way done with March already... where does the time go???

I should be in TN right now visiting a friend but family medical issues changed all those plans. Maybe another time?

Hubby and I did run away to Ft Worth last weekend for a huge Christian concert. Winter Jam 2015. There were 10 bands and Kari Jobe popped in for a song:) So really 11 performers:) We spent the night in a hotel right across the street from the convention center so no parking or traffic issues afterwards:) Great planning on my part!!!

Well got a little quilting done this week....

First up is Maleah's quilt. Not sure of the name of the pattern but really like it!

Tried to make it look like the fabric was really going over and under with the quilting.

Cool backing!

Cindy gave me a scrappy quilt to quilt and asked for loops all over:)

Loved looking at the fabrics and saying... I have some of that:) haha!!!

Backing.

Dolly gave me one of her daughters quilts to quilt. It is the jelly roll race but she made her own strips.

I quilted loops and stars all over in red, white, and blue variegated thread.

Backing.

Spent all day yesterday quilting this Science Fair quilt for me:) yea!!!!! I will get better pics after the binding is all sewn on:)

Well enjoy the week!!!! And sew, sew, sew!!!!

March 7, 2015

Well we had more ice and some sunshine this week... what a wacky weather year! We did have snow on Easter one year and I SO hope we don't this year!!!

Busy week but I did take a few days off to sew for me:) Just had no quilting mojo:)

This is what I did get done:

Gayle's wedding gift quilt:)

Love the reds, greys, and blacks all together.
Used Featheration pantograph with a grey thread.

Back....

This is Jill's Ghastlies quilt.

I love the pattern and this is the first Ghastlies I have quilted:)
I told her to keep the border the way it is all angled:)

Close up.... loopies and circls.

Scaredy cat backing!

This is one of Maleah's. She made this all flannel for her grandson.

Love the feel of flannel!!!

Just looped all over and then did a little extra in border:)

These blocks were donated to Project Linus, put together by Cindy and bought by Shelley.

I was ordered.... um asked/begged  to finish the hand stitching.

I am SO not a fan of featherstitching but after hours and hours of it I am more comfortable with it... still not a favorite!

I did add blanket and backstitching in the star block. Now it goes back to Shelley to add 2 more borders and then back to me to quilt:) So you will be seeing it again:)

Made this for my friend Joan for Easter. It is a Jenny Elephantz pattern. Love her designs!!!

Another Jenny design:) This one is for me:)

Well Hubby and I are running away tomorrow to Ft Worth for a Christian concert and staying overnight:) SO excited!!!!
Was suppose to go to TN next weekend but something came up at her end so will stay home.

Have a great week!!!!

March 1, 2015

Happy early Birthday to the Great State of Texas!!!!

March 2, 1836: The Texas Declaration of Independence is signed, calling for Texas’ secession from Mexico. Fighting had already begun at the Alamo.

I always remember this day:)

Well the week went fast but I still got things done:)

Monday I had to drive to Gatesville to show up for Jury duty. Of course the roads were horrible... all country roads.... get there and by lunch they are closing the courts because of the weather??? Should of done that before we all risked our lives! We are to be back at 1 on Tues. The roads were clear all day... well of course! Got excused at 4 and not picked for a sentencing trial. Wed quilted, Thurs, quilted and Friday went to Waco Shop Hop. All the shops come to one place instead of you driving all over the state:) Had quite a few shops and plenty of room:) Only found 2 hand emb patterns:)
Sat quilted and sewed:) and today got the taxes done:) yea!!!!!

Ok here is what I got done:)

First... I forgot to post these the past few weeks. Jenny from Elephantz wanted us to use her free design to make and send to an orphan adoption center.

They will hoop and sell on their website to help raise funds for family that need financial help with adoptions.

My BFF's daughter is having a boy and I knew he would need some sprinkler covers:) Machine emb from Emb Garden.

Carolla made this cute farm quilt.

She wanted me to stich all the applique down... that was an adventure at times!

Hey the orange cat isn't on the chicken coop anymore???

Cute ducks in a pond!

Yup that's where the orange cat is suppose to be!!!

Carolla also made this patriotic wall hanging.

Nice log cabins and stars!

Backing..

Starting machine quilting my cat wool project......

This is Megan's quilt. Love the colors!

Also love the simple pattern! I quilted Deb's swirls all over it...

backing....

I quilted 6 project Linus quilts and this is one of them.

Dot made this one.

Need more white Kona so I can finish the backing for my Illusions quilt.

Shelley from our Bee has a daughter that works at the local hospital in labor and delivery. She is asking for blankets for the poor babies that don't survive so the parents have something to wrap them in that is prettier then the receiving blankets from the hospital. So I made the 5 on top of the sewing machine case and Pat made the hats. The other piles are blankets cut and ready to sew together.  Thank you Pat and Project Linus for the baby fleece!

Well that's all from here..... suppose to rain but hopefully no more ice!!!!
Have a great week!

Feb 22, 2015

Boy this was a busy week!!!! I had lunch with the gals on Tuesday and then on Thurs we went to Quilt Con in Austin. In between I quilted and of course had to buy some groceries:)

Quilt Con was ok... after awhile the quilts began looking the same:( Lots of negative space for quilting which was gorgeous!!!! There were about 350 quilts and all were chosen from over 4000 applicants. Some you were wondering... really this one beat out others? And then some were like WOW!!!! I guess it all comes down to personal preference. I like Modern quilts but some were a bit too modern for me:) There were a lot of vendors... more then the previous time. But unfortunately I didn't find anything I had to have:( My plan is to finish what I have:) So far so good:) haha!!!

I did get one quilt quilted.... I worked on it Mon, Wed, and finished on Friday.

This is Jo's Hand Applique Poinsettia basket.

She will be adding beads in the poinsettia centers.

She let me play and each block was different so play I did:)

Here is the back... all my quilting really shows!

It was really windy outside so had to take pictures inside.

Jo will be putting big red beads by the holly leaves. Think it will be beautiful after all the beads are added!
I finished a name block set:) I hand embroider the letters...

And thee are letter pictures to go with them. I also sew 4 squares of fabric with items with that letter in them.... like Kite, Ball, etc.....

My Grunge Illusions is all sewed together:) yea!!!!

A close up:) I had 21 blocks leftover since I made it smaller so will sew them together and put on the back:)

This kit was given to me about 2 years ago and so I got it all stitched but now it needs to be quilted.... still deciding if by hand or domestic machine???

Well next week may be another adventure:) I have a jury duty summons for tomorrow and there is a cold front coming in.... may have ice Mon night and Tues morning:( If I get picked I will have to see how long it lasts.... suppose to go to Waco on Friday for the Shop Hop. Also suppose to freeze Friday:( UGH!!!!

Well enjoy your week... hope you are warm!!!
