Sept. 6, 2014

Howdy ya'll:)

Sorry I didn't blog last weekend but hubby took over in law care so I could quilt:) I have tons of pics for this week as I quilted 13 items this past week:) And guess what??? I have 13 in the closet again:) Yups I think the start of my busy season has arrived:) I love quilting everyone's special creations!

The inlaws are doing ok.... FIL s still in rehab and I think he will be there a bit longer... do they wait until they can move around with the cane or the walker before sending them home? He also needs help with the bathroom so hopefully they won't send him home too early!

One of the people I was visiting whenever I went over passed away:( He was 77 and had a rough last 2 years:( Granny is still there:) Also began visiting her roomie:) She is a quilter too:)

MIL had another UTI and then caught some kind of bug Tuesday night. Poor thing! Talked to the roomie who has a friend on Alzheimer meds and they were giving her UTI's so asked SIL to discuss with MIL Dr. Will get a report on Tues when I go back on duty.

Ok on with the show:)

These are Carolla's table runners. Love them boots!!!!
Makes me say Boots and Cats and Boots and Cats and boots and cats.......
ha ha!!

Closeup of my free hand quilting:)

Love the backing! So... um Christmasy:)

These pics show off Mary Belle's Nurse quilt. I quilted loops and hearts all over.

Here is Modern Jill's latest creation!

She has discovered Grunge fabrics and I think she loves them as much as I do:) They look great with her batiks!

Beautiful backing!!!! So swirly:)

Another Carolla quilt. Love when I know exactly what I want to quilt when I first see them:)

Saw the flowers in the plain blocks and the fun feathers in the border:)

Great backing fabric too!!!

Hubby needed a quick baby quilt for a guy that works at the same place he does... it is for a girl. Well I had these Disappearing Hourglass blocks made and I had the rest in my stash from making stuff for the Grand Daughter:)

Then I just looped all over.

Oops not enough backing.... but I did have a bit of the pink left and walla all done:)

Dot made a Project Linus quilt from leftover oranges:)

I always quilt them for free:)

Carolyn usually quilts her own quilts but this one was too big and she is having cataract surgery next week so I got to stipple all over:)

Really turned out nice!

It is a gift:)

Absolutely LOVE the backing!!!

Dot's wild orange and lime quilt:)

It is a gift for a former coworker. She used the striped tube method... haven't tried that one yet.

Just loops all over.

Now Judy from McKinney sent me 2 Project Linus quilts.

She always uses such bright and fun fabrics! I did loops and then water where the fishies were.

She also makes them for the bigger kids.

Her second one.

Just loops this time.

Such colorful flip flops:)

Here is Ninja Bob. He feels SO much better and stays in the studio except at nights.... guess when it gets cold he reverse that:) He plays so much now!!! Yes he is a lucky cat!

Enjoy your week... I am hoping to get a few more quilted before Tues.... Have a great week!

August 16, 2014

Oh my it is still August:( This week is SO dragging!!!!
I am on inlaw duty this week and all we do is get up, get dressed, visit/MIL eat lunch w /FIL, go home/shop/Dr Appt, then back to rehab center for MIL to eat dinner with FIL and then hubby picks her up and stays the night at her house. Unless there is Bingo and then hubby takes MIL there:) She does need some excitement:) haha!!!
My nephew came from Austin on Thursday and spent time w/FIL and then went to Bingo. They had a great time but didn't win any $ :(
SIL comes on Monday then I can quilt and do my appts:) yea!!!!

So unfortunately I only have one picture to share and it is an awesome picture for sure!!!!

This is Kathi and she is a dear friend, a guild member and in our Bee. She is also a VERY creative lady that is helping me go beyond my safe zone:) Thank you!! Well ok back to Kathi. This is her Hoffman Challenge entry:) It is hanging at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Festival. I got to see it at the beginning stages and loved it then and love it more now:) We are all SO proud of her!!!!! Great job Kathi!!!!

Today is also Jax and Gemma's birthday:) They are 2 years old:)

Of course we celebrate everybody's birthday today since we only really know theirs:) YUMS!!!!

I will be quilting this week so I will def have some beauties to show you:)

Aug 9, 2014

Ok summer is finally here:( ugh!!!! 99+ temps and no chance for rain for awhile:( Have had to water the yard and flowers and hubby finally is washing his truck:)

Went to Austin today to Sew Much More to pu my Bernina and drop off my other Bernina:) Spa treatments:) Was a nice drive and a quick shopping trip:) Stopped at the Honey Bee on the way:) They had the new Grunge Layer Cakes... well of course had to get one:) Not sure what I am going to do with it but since I don't have to feed it, it can just be lovingly looked at until I figure it out:) haha!!!

Since it was my week off I got quilting done:) yea!!!!

First up is Ophelia's Lutheran church quilt. There is a group of friends with the youngest being 84 that get together every year to make a raffle quilt for the church. They are all friends and not all members of the church:)

I have been honored to quilt a few of them:)  This year is a lovely Texas quilt.

They let me "play".

So I get to have fun for a good cause:)

Karen B started quilting this one and had machine problems so I got to finish it for her:)

The large applique in the middle is an actual wool patch for a jacket.

Backing was fleece.

Ok if you can believe this but this is a first time quilter:) She made this about 15 years ago and stuck it on a shelf. Well one of my regulars told her about me and I was honored to finish it for her:)

I immediately saw feathers in the cream area:) Love how it turned out!

The backing was muslin so you can really see thequilting:)

Almost forgot to update you on inlaws. FIL was moved to rehab facility on Thursday. It is just a few blocks away from the house. He likes it there and MIL likes it there when she visits. Now remember I have been off all week so I will get to see it on Monday. When I am off I stay far away!!!! I pretend I am in another town and can't drive that far:) Really my house is right next door but I need to get caught up on the business and house, oh and of course the animals. KoKo had her first appt for shots and she is overweight... duh:) haha!!!! Bob went for his ear recheck but had to have another treatment on his left ear. Hopefully all his "friends" will be gone. He goes on the 22nd for a recheck, neuter and teeth cleaning. He will really be mad at me after that appt:) He is SO thankful to be in the air conditioned studio these days:)

Have an awesome week and get sewing instead of spending all your time on the computer:) haha!!!!

August 3, 2014

Yes you read that right... it is August? Don't remember July!

The weather has been so unusual this year!! We usually have had at least 20-30 days of 100+ temps. This year we have had 0... yes 0! Everything is SO green and beautiful! We even had a cold front this week that dropped us down to 80's as the high and 69 as a low??? Just Wow!!!!

Well it was a pretty bad week here:( FIL fell on Tues and didn't want to go to hospital so we waited... won't do that again! He had a urology appt on Wed and then got xrays of his back done. He was in SO much pain I called 911 Wed night and got him checked into Metroplex. They then transferred him to Scott and White Thurs morning to the Neurology floor.. We went up Thurs and saw no Dr's:( So hubby was at hosp at 7am Friday morning. He met all the Dr's:) That's when they told us of his stress fracture on the T12. No surgery and no brace because he is pretty frail. So they are controlling the pain and he can be moved to a rehab this week. He will be there 3-4 weeks. Maybe longer? Needless to say it was a week!!!! SIL arrives tomorrow and will check out the 3 rehabs I have picked and then go from there. Never a dull minute around here!

Well while we were at Scott and White I remembered that Whoolala was hanging on display there so Hubby and I went on a stroll and found it:

So here she is:)

Her sign... lots of mistakes but I did email the information to her but I guess it was?????

Here is Carolla's Santa quilt I quilted last week all done:) Love it!!!!

2 more BOM's done. Only 1 more month to go:)

Hoping to get some quilting done this week with SIL here caring for MIL:)
Have an awesome week!
